Discussion/Action Items
Hispanic Community
·    Englebert and Lenz met with Banta Elementary School Principal Gina Cornu Zacharias about how the library can market to the Hispanic community “to make them aware of the free cultural and educational resources and services available at the library for lifelong learning, personal enrichment, and intellectual freedom with the goal of increasing use and support of those resources and services”, quoting the goal of the committee’s marketing plan. Banta has about 220 students learning in both English and Spanish. Many depend on Casa Hispana, which acts as a clearinghouse to services available in the Fox Cities.  Banta has an active PTO; they promoted our summer reading program and won the award for most children per school capita enrolled in the program.  Principal Cornu Zacharia is very willing to work with us to increase the use of the library by Banta families.
o    We could address the PTO on how libraries work and the services/resources we offer.
o    Possibly get focus group together on how to help Hispanic community and find out what programs would be of interest to children and adults.
o    We can submit articles for their school newsletters.
o    We could hold an event at a school assembly.
·    Lenz will talk to Librarian Ana Maria Acosta and Principal Cornu Zacharias about having Ana talk with their PTO.
·    Englebert also spoke with Rhonda Hannemann, Community Development Program Officer at United Way.   She suggested speaking with Rose Icela Hoeffner, Bilingual Specialist at the Child Care Resource and Referral.
·    At the January 24 Board of Trustees meeting, we will report on what we have worked on thus far.

Low Income
We need to determine a similar method for determining how to market to the low-income community.  Committee members discussed contacting the Boys and Girls Club, Jen Peterson at the Menasha Joint School District, Mary Crawmer at Gegan Elementary School, Goodwill Industries, St. Joe’s Food Pantry, and FISC about ways to help the underserved.  Witt will contact Dan Flannery at FISC, and Lenz will contact Chris VanderHeyden.

Influential Community Members
We need to determine a similar method for determining how to market to the high-income community.  Committee members were asked to bring a list of potential people to the next meeting.

Marketing Budget
Lenz and Dreyer will track of those expenses incurred for marketing purposes so that a marketing budget can be developed for 2019.

The next meetings will be held on Tuesday, February 13, and Tuesday, March 30, at 4:45pm.

Adjournment
Meeting adjourned at 5:55pm.

Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Dreyer, recording secretary
