Called to order at 4:04pm by Chairman Englebert
Present:     Chairman Englebert, Trustee Franzoi, Vice Chairman Golz, Trustee Halverson, Superintendent of Schools VanderHeyden (arrived at 4:17pm) and Secretary Wicihowski,
Absent:      Ad Hoc Trustee Jill Hermans, Trustee Witt, Teen Representative Glen Genz
Also Present:     Director Lenz, Support Services Supervisor Brandt, Adult Services Supervisor Bongers and Administrative Assistant Dreyer     

Public Comment/Communication: None

Consent Business
Motion made by Franzoi, seconded by Wicihowski, to approve the Library Board meeting minutes from
September 27, 2017.  Motion carried unanimously.

Motion made by Halverson, seconded by Wicihowski to accept the meeting minutes of the Finance & Investments Committee of October 6, 2017.  Motion carried unanimously.

Authorization of Bills
Motion made by Franzoi, seconded by Golz, to authorize payment of the October 2017 bills as presented from the 2017 budget.  Motion carried unanimously.  

Director’s Report/Information Items
1.    September Statistics.  Circulation of physical materials is 0.9% lower than last year and circulation of digital materials is up 13.4%, making overall circulation so far this year about the same as last year.  Program attendance is 2.7% higher so far this year.  The Fox Cities Book Festival took place October 9-15, which will add 12 programs and 454 attendees to our October numbers.  

2.    Budget Status.  Trustees reviewed the 2017 budget status. Franzoi recommended showing a comparison of what percent other libraries are spending on the various line items.

3.    Staff Reports.
       ·    We will be getting a new copy machine in the Reference area.  
       ·    We hired a new half-time librarian in Adult Services – Angie Jandourek.  She starts on October 30.
       ·    We have added T-Mobile hotspots and new laptops with built-in Wi-Fi to the collection for checkout courtesy of Faith Technologies.  
       ·    Alliance Industries made a contribution to the library for children’s technology.

Discussion/Action Items
4.    2018 Budget.   Trustees reviewed the 2018 budget as recommended by the Finance & Investment Committee.  It was suggested adding the amount for encumbered materials to the 2017 to-date figure.   Motion made by Franzoi, seconded by Wicihowski to approve the 2018 with the modification.  Motion carried unanimously.  
The budget workshops with the Common Council will take place on November 1, 2, and 8 at 5:00pm in the City Center.  (The library’s budget will be reviewed on November 8.)

5.    Date of Next Meeting.  November’s meeting is currently scheduled for November 22, the day before Thanksgiving.  Motion made by VanderHeyden, seconded by Franzoi to change our next meeting to Wednesday, November 29.  Motion carried unanimously.
