February 10, 2021


Called to order at 3:03pm by Chairman Schwerbel
Committee members present:  Franzoi (arrived at 3:16pm), Golz, Schwerbel and Turner
Also present:  Sam Schroeder, Community Development Director for the City of Menasha; Joe Stephenson, Principal Planner for the City of Menasha; Library Director Lenz; and Business Manager Dreyer

Public Comment/Communication:  None

Consent Business
Motion made by Golz, seconded by Turner to approve the Building & Grounds Committee meeting minutes of November 3, 2020.  Motion carries unanimously.  

Facility Planning Discussion
Schroeder explained the role of the Community Development Department for the City of Menasha. In regard to the committee’s goal to develop a facility plan, he recommends gathering input from community groups. Possibilities include:

  • the Boys and Girls Club of Menasha,
  •  the Menasha Joint School District, high school teachers
  • United Way Fox Cities,
  • U. W. Oshkosh Fox Cities Campus,
  • Fox Valley Technical College, Bordini Center, or a group involved in entrepreneurship (i.e. https://foxcities.score.org/)
  • Goodwill NCW
  • Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce
  • East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission
  • Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development/Fox Valley Job Center
  • Menasha and Fox Crossing municipal departments: Community Development, Parks & Rec

to determine gaps in service that could be filled by the library to help community members enhance their knowledge & skills, maintain their interests when they leave school, become entrepreneurs and innovators, and improve their economic situation. A focus on children is important.

The committee will meet on Wednesday, February 17, February 24, March 3, March 10 and March 17, at 11:00am to continue to move this process forward.
