The 2018 Fox Cities Book Festival begins on Monday, October 8, and runs through Sunday, October 14.

The Elisha D. Smith Public Library is honored to host:

Joseph Rein (fiction, short stories, Wisconsin)
Roads without houses: writing Wisconsin-based fiction - A native of Kimberly, Wisconsin, Joseph Rein writes stories that always gravitate toward home. Rein is the author of Roads without Houses (Press 53, 2018). The collection contains 15 loosely linked stories set across varying landscapes of the upper Midwest, from metropolitan Milwaukee to the deep Northwoods of Wisconsin. Coping with issues from broken relationships to loss to eating disorders, the characters all struggle to escape the wrong fork of life’s path. In this presentation, Rein will discuss the various challenges and rewards when writing about such a familiar landscape.
