Japanese Doll Festival Celebration
Family Spot — March 3, 2010 - 6:01pm
Matsuri, Doll Day/Girl's Day in Japan. Students from the Menasha School District Japanese language program, with teacher Lynn Sessler and visiting Japanese student Saki Tatsuda, showed the children how to do simple origami, games, and crafts. Amy Bertram demonstrated how to make an origami kimono craft. We
put our many Japanese dolls into our display case, and then we had treats of green tea and rice cakes. This enjoyable program has become a tradition at the library.

Soda Pups Dog Show: A Turn off the TV Week Special Event
Family Spot — January 27, 2010 - 1:48pm
The Menasha Library Children’s Department was happy to host Jack and Nancy Zolkowski’s Soda Pups for our annual Turn Off the TV Week program. Dr. Pepper, Squirt, Ginger Ale, and Sierra Mist entertained the crowd with their amazing agility and obedience tricks. The dogs ran through tunnels, jumped hurdles, walked on their hind legs, and demonstrated “stop, drop, and roll” to the delight of children and adults alike. Sierra Mist brought down the house by riding in a remote control Hummer through a tunnel. The dogs also performed their famous Packer trick where they wouldn’t come for their treat until the Packer command was given—no Bear or Viking fans in that pack!
