Love small stuffed animals? Check out Steiff!
During April, Cindy Fitzgibbon, library patron from Neenah, displays her "Mostly Steiff" collection of cute stuffed animals. The Steiff story is interesting and almost unbelievable. Despite polio and use of only one arm, Margarete Steiff designed and sewed felt clothing; in 1879, Margarete saw the sewing pattern for a small stuffed elephant. Using this pattern, she made the elephant as a pin cushion, but soon the little stuffed animals became very popular as children's toys and collectibles.
