Shorter Car Rides

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

When I traveled as a little one, I knew when we were getting closer to our destination when we only had four more Adventures in Odyssey episodes to pop in the tape player. Now I have excess to a CD player and playaways. It's a whole new adventure for book reading while taking a trip.

Recently I enjoyed Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. I finished it yesterday and wanted to post to the blog as soon as possible to tell you to go and check out this book. I originally checked out the book because it sounded slightly interesting and it won an award. The author didn't trill me because of the previous book I listened to - Coraline.

Neil Gaiman is a fantastic reader, but Coraline is on my "never read again list." On the other hand, The Graveyard Book is on my "totally check this out again and tell others about it list." I am even thinking about re-listening to it before it's due at the library.

The Graveyard Book follows the life of...

Nobody "Bod" Owens. He lives in a graveyard and needs to find out what happened to his living family. He makes friends all over the graveyard and a few in the living world. Bod learns about ghouls, fading, friendship and living. It's a unique read that will bring you new adventures at every turn of the page.

A few other books besides The Graveyard Book, I have enjoyed during travel include...

Whispering to Witches by Anna Dale

Street Gang by Michael Davis

The Beloved Dearly by Doug Cooney
