48-Hour Update #3

Another day, another book! It's a great day to read in WI! Today is wet and gray and here's what I've been reading...

Tell Me Who by Jessica Wollman

The "newest" book I have ever read. The children talked about IPhones, High School Musical and American Idol. I really stick to different time periods so this blew my mind. The book is a nice shape and a fun read. Who doesn't want to find out who they'll marry?

Up and Down the Scrathy Mountains by Laurel Snyder

I read this book in and out of sleepiness. I originally picked it up because of the front cover. The plate illustrations are beautiful. I'm not sure on the storyline, it was amusing, but I'm not sure about the end. I can't tell if I missed some facts or...

if I just didn't find closure. I think this might be a book I'll read again.

Alanna the First Adventure by Tamora Pierce

In the Hand of the Goddess by Tamora Pierce

The Woman Who Rides LIke a Man by Tamora Pierce

The three titles are part of a four book series. One of my favorites that I would recommend to any young reader. It's a great fantasy book with battles, magic, and mystery. Each book leads to the next, so it's a hard set to put down. I personally needed a little break so I switched gears with a different genre.

small section of Oath Breaker by Michelle Paver

Back to a Historial Fiction work, Oath Breaker is the fifth book in the Cronicles of Ancient Darkness series. These books reach back to the time when the earth hosted tribes of hunters and gatherers. Not my usually type of book, but very interesting. I would reccommend beginning with book one - Wolf Brother.

and finally...

Horseradish: Bitter Truths You Can't Avoid by Lemony Snicket.

After reading the Series of Misfortunate Events, check out Lemony Snicket's other titles. Horseradish is one of my favorites. I love reading odd books during the summer time. It's made up of interesting facts and quotes from Snicket. I would love to share many of his quotes with you but then I would be publishing his book online and that's not legal so we'll share a little one with you today...

"A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them" ~ Lemony Snicket

Lastly, this is a really good and difficult challenge. I'm wishing everyone the best as we all work to read the most hours in a day. Be sure to take care of yourself as you work toward your reading goal.
