Caves, mummies, & treasure!

The summer activities continued with our Dig It! Party celebrating archaeology & ancient civilizations!

This week we celebrated caves, archaeology and ancient civilizations as a part of our Dig Into Reading summer reading program.  We read Skippyjon Jones in Mummy Trouble by Judy Schachner together to start the afternoon off and followed our story with all kinds of fun activities.  Our young archaeologists created their own "cave paintings" with chalk on recycled paper grocery bags, tried their hand at writing their names using ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, and deciphered a message to send them on a mini treasure hunt.    We had a special visitor join in the fun as well - Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse was in the Children's Room for photos and handshakes with our young archaeologists.

Thanks to all our library friends and especially Texas Roadhouse for joining us in the Children's Room for a great afternoon!  The summer fun continues next week with Story Sparklers family story time on Monday July 1 at 10am and our Dino-Might party on Wednesday July 3 at 1:30pm.  See you soon!
