Check out the September displays of art, crafts and Hispanic dolls.
During September, please take a few moments to enjoy the work by Erin Kelly, on the Art Wall in the Miron Fireplace Room. Erin graduated from the UW with her Art Degree in 2008, currently is employed as a graphic artist/designer, enjoys creating costumes for videogame conventions, and is a graduate student at the UWM.
Mahogany Display Case - Circulation Desk Do you know what an Altered Book is? You'll find a fascinating collection of "Altered Books" in the display case adjacent to Circulation this month! Barb LaFontaine, former Reference/YA Librarian at the Library, has been busy during her retirement! You'll be amazed how an ordinary book can be transformed into magnificent art! And, if you're interested in trying your hand at making an altered book, please sign up for our, "Introduction to Altered Books", workshop, on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2 - 4pm.
As you enter the Library this month, take note of the special dolls from Latin America and Spain, all dressed in traditional costume. September 16 - October 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. We are grateful to Mayra Pasayes from Fox Valley Technical College for allowing us to display her dolls.
If you are interested in displaying your collectibles, artwork, or hobbies, please contact Kathy at 967-3692.
