This week we started our 3-week series of Baby Stay and Play story time!
Baby Stay and Play is a special story time just for babies from birth - 24 months and their caregivers. Babies are developing early literacy skills at these stages and listening to books being read aloud, singing, and doing finger plays are great ways to develop these skills. Even though babies may not understand all of what they are seeing and hearing, the repitition of words and connections between sounds and letters that are made during story time are important early literacy building blocks.
This week we read all about playtime with baby! Jazz Baby by Lisa Wheeler, The Baby Goes Beep by Rebecca O'Connell and Ten Tiny Babies by Karen Katz all made for some fun reading! We also did lots of singing, clapping, tapping, and even sang some nursery rhymes! After story time, we pulled out the toys & books for play time!
If you missed this week of Baby Stay and Play, never fear! We'll be back next Tuesday, October 11th at 6pm with more baby stories!
