On Tuesday, April 26th, the Children's Department celebrated Children's Day or Book Day - a special day that honors books & children that is celebrated each year in Mexico!
Kay Weeden: La Cuentista Lista - The Clever Storyteller presented a special program at 6:30pm in the Company E room to help us celebrate this special day! We learned lots of Spanish words, sang some silly songs, including one about elephants balancing on a spider's web, and even did some dancing! Most importantly, we heard lots of stories!! Kay even shared the story in the bookBiblioburro by Jeanette Winter about a man in Columbia who carried a traveling library of books on his two donkeys to children who didn't have any books of their own to read! What a fun evening we had! We even got a chance to do a little craft and have a treat before heading home for the night. A special thank you to Kay Weeden for sharing her wonderful stories with us here at the Menasha library! Check out our Flickr page for fun snapshots of our Dia Day celebration!
