There is always something fun happening in the Children's Room! We offer a variety of ongoing programs throughout the calendar as well as special events such as book parties and performances. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
A reading program for infants & children up to kindergarten age that runs continuously; families receive a binder with pages that let them keep track of titles of books they read together. After finishing each group of 100 books, families bring the binder into the library for a sticker to put in their binder as well as a special incentive prize. A graduation ceremony is held every April for everyone who has finished reading their 1000 Books in the last year. Stop in at the Children's Info Desk any time to sign up!

An early literacy program for babies birth - age 5 that runs throughout the school year; grab a folder from the Children's Room and complete 1 activity for each early literacy skill listed inside the folder. Families can bring the completed folder to the Children's Info Desk for a special prize.
Happy Birthday Baby
Program for babies birth - age 3 that runs continuously; sign up at the Children's Info Desk for a free baby goody bag and recieve a coupon every year on baby's birthday that can be redeemed at the library for a free board book.
A self-guided reading program for 3rd-5th graders that runs during the school year; kids sign up at the Children's Info Desk and receive a folder & a genre bookmark. Kids choose 10 books to read in a specific genre (we provide a list of genres to choose from) and write down the book titles on their bookmark and give each title a star rating. When kids turn in a completed bookmark, they earn a pin whose design matches the genre of books they chose. To become a Ravenous Reader, visit the Children's Info Desk.
