Are you hosting a classroom this summer? We have a program fun, free program for you! Sign-up at the Info Desk in the Children's Room to recieve your own Dream Big: READ Summer Reading Program. The program lasts for two months and encourages your students to read and write over the summer. For every literary activity, they can place a sticker on the June or July poster. When the month is complete, they receive a prize courtesy of the Menasha Public Library! Children can also participate individaully in the summer program by coming to the library.
Recently, the United Stated hosted a census to take a snapshot of life in America. The census was in 2010. On April 2nd, the US National Archives released the 1940 census records! They are available online with the help of Archives.com. It can be a little daunting to jump right into the middle of 3.8 million images, scanned from over 4,000 rolls of microfilm. Beginning now! Students between Kindergarten and 12th grade can enter the Google Doodle contest to have their art featured on Google's homepage! This year's theme is "If I could travel in time, I'd visit…" Parents, teachers, or after school programs may submit doodles on behalf of their child or student as long as they are accompanied by a completed and signed entry form.
