Black History Month, also known as African-American History Month in America, is an annual observance during the month of February. We've selected a small portion of our collection to showcase during this week's Friday Book Finds. The books feature history, stories, authors, and illustrators. Stop by the Children's Room to see and checkout an even broader selection of amazing books!

Have you heard about this year's award winning books? The American Library Association hosts the Youth Media Awards every year.  The YMA's are where the Newbery and Caldecott books are announced as well as many other books that win awards for video, audiobook, African American author/illustrator, and so much more! The full list of award winners are available at I Love Libraries. Here is a small sampling of the newest award winners for 2015:

During week two of Tuesday story time, we talked about boots! Snowbie shared a poem about robots that wear red rubber boots. We also read about Ladybug Girl who loved red boots with blog dots. Ollie, a friend of Gossie and Gertie, wants boots, too. Between books we danced to a song about Walkin' Shoes.
