The library's Summer Reading Program is under the theme Fizz Boom Read! We're so excited for a Science Theme Summer!!
In celebration of Fizz Boom Read, the Children's Librarians are creating pages for young scientists to use over the summer and add to their own Science Notebook. Each week we hope to post a new page to print off for more science activities young scientist can do at home with a grown-up assistant. We'll list all our pages on this page: Summer Science 2014, but be on the lookout for individual pages posted on the blog.
During the months of June and July, the library is running a special Family Story Time program called Story Sparklers! Our first story time happened on Monday, June 9. Our Fizz Boom Read theme for the day was WEATHER. We shared some great books and sang a song about weather and danced like ducks in rain! If you are interested in weather books, check out the 551's in Non-Fiction.
During the month of May, the Children's Room hosts a special story time celebrating the season of Spring! This year at Preschool Planters Story Time, we talked about stems and sticks, leaves, and flowers. During story time, we read books about each theme and danced to some Jim Gill music. After story time we enjoyed activities that followed our theme. The first week we drew flowers on stems, the second week we create tree pictures from torn paper, and the final week we planted our secret garden.
