Yesterday, we started our three-week Let's Grow Garden Stories Storytime at the library! It was an exciting day for stories, songs and garden fun. We wiggled like worms and danced like birds - creatures you can find in a garden. We also heard a story about Planting a Rainbow.

Last month, author Virginia Lee Burton celebrated her 100th birthday! She passed away in 1968, but her books live on as classics for children around the world. I have spent many days poring over the beautiful illustrations and fun layouts in each of her books. Come in to the library and pick up one of her books today!

Traditionally, today is May Day! May Day brings the love of flowers to everyone near and far. Many times flowers are left at the door of loved ones and friends. Today also brings us Mother Goose Day! The motto for Mother Goose Day is "Either alone or in sharing, read childhood nursery favorites and feel the warmth of Mother Goose's embrace." We have a great selection of Mother Goose books at the Menasha Public Library.

The theme of the 2009 National Week of the Young Child is Bring Communities Together for Children - Children Bring Communities Together. Menasha Public Library kicked off the week with a puppet show called Puppet Power! There was fun and laughter to be had by all.
